See you at Immanuel!

Let’s play ball!

This year we will be offering teams in the following age groups-

6th grade and under- Elementary Developmental Team that will play in a Saturday league

And the following school season teams-

8th grade and under- Middle School team

12th grade and under- Junior Varsity and Varsity teams.

Information is provided below for all teams.

Please make sure that your athlete meets the requirements for “homeschooled” as defined by the National Christian Homeschool Championships, found here-

Our player evaluations will be held May 30th and June 3rd, at Immanuel Lutheran Church and School. PLEASE indicate which day your athlete will be attending! If unable to attend, please indicate on the Google document. (Elementary Developmental Players do NOT need to attend player evaluations but are welcome to attend both our preseason workouts in July as well as player evaluations). Player evaluations are for the purpose of placing your athlete on the best team possible for age and level of play. All athletes will be placed on a team.

Our coaches for this season will be Hannah Babler and Ally Norman. (Assistant coaches are in

process.) Hannah will be a college senior this coming fall at The College at Mid America. This will be her 4thyear coaching for SCHS. She has also coached for St. Francis Academy of Memphis as well as Premier GVC Memphis. As a player, she participated in 4 years of club ball in Memphis and Texas, as well as school and rec ball from 5th through 12th grades. Ally Norman will be a sophomore at The College at Mid America. This will be her 2nd season coaching with SCHS. She also participated in rec and school ball in Texas. Both Hannah and Ally are certified USAV referees, and both have completed their SafeSport training.

Practices for school season teams will be held on Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday evenings, beginning July 15th, between 6:00 and 8:30 pm, with exact times to be provided after teams are set. If your athlete is unable to attend a practice it is the athlete’s responsibility to contact the coach in advance. All practices will be held at Immanuel Lutheran Church and School.

Practices for the Elementary Developmental Team will be twice a week instead of three times a week.

School Season-

We plan to have school season matches (as we are able to schedule them) for Middle School, Freshmen, Junior Varsity and Varsity teams through the 2nd week of October. For many private and public schools, October is playoff season and therefore it is sometimes more difficult to arrange matches during October.

For any tournaments during the school season, we will only be placing teams in the middle school, freshman, Junior Varsity, and Varsity age groups but all players will be eligible to play.

Our Elementary Developmental Team will be playing in a Saturday league run by St George School. They will be playing Saturdays on August 24th, and September 7th, 14th, and 21st, with multiple matches each Saturday. There is a possibility of a tournament that will be held on September 28th, in which this team might also be able to participate.

Matches (games) for school season-

Matches will be scheduled on Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday during scheduled practice times as much as possible. Some Saturday matches or tournaments may also be scheduled as well as a Friday match or two. Home games will be held at Immanuel. It is the responsibility of the athlete to contact the coach as soon as any conflicts with scheduled games are known. If matches are held on a practice day, the missed practice will NOT be made up.

Game and Tournament Schedule-

The game schedule will be found at the team website, as well as in regular communication through GroupMe. You will be added to these as they are available. Updates will be added to the website so please check it periodically.

NATIONALS- (optional)

While we desire that all school season players participate in the National tournament, it is understood that this is not always a possibility for every family.

SCHS will be attending the National Christian Homeschool Volleyball Championship (NCHVC) Tournament, held October 17th-19th in Lawrence, KS. Teams are decided based on the player’s age as of September 1st of the current school year. Players may always play “up” in age groups but never “down” for NCHVC tournaments. SCHS plans to take a 12u, 14u and a 18u team (as NCHVC competes based on player age vs player grade) as we have in the past. If we have enough players interested, we will consider adding an additional team. More information will be forthcoming concerning NCHVC.
